An "About Face" Print E-mail

8/23/11 Check this out Lord. She's twenty. He's twenty-five. He's been in prison five times. She's imprisoned in the relationship. She's faithful to him. He's cheated on her.

Her mother says she can't take care of her anymore. He can't find a job because he's a felon. They've got no money. They've not chosen your way. They have trusted "their way." Their way "ain't workin', she said.

It's hard to say Lord, but now she prostitutes to get money. He sells drugs. He feels so low about her "work." She's afraid he'll get caught and locked up. She cries about what she has to do with men she doesn't love. He has to turn his head and not think about it.

She's afraid she may get a disease. His love for her waned for a bit and he cheated. She loves him and only wants to be with him. He says he's put the cheating behind him.

She's pregnant now. He wonders if he's the father. She claims it's his child. He's never been a dad. Her mother kicked them out. His father never was "there."

They say they want a change. We talked about repentance. They worry if they can make it. We talked about trusting You and each other. She knows she has to stop prostituting, and he knows he has to his stop drug dealing. They both know the money will dry up.

He gave his life to You six months ago and was immersed. He backslid. "I got baptized because everyone else did," she said, when she was a child. She gave her life to You today. He wants to be Your child. He was restored today. They agreed to give up their will. They want to live by Your will.

Man, Lord, they have a lot ahead of them. Repentance truly is an "about face," a 180 turn, a change of heart, mind, body, and soul. They have a lot of changing to do. Actually, to become. That is, the people You always intended them to be.

Lord, I can't wait to see what you do with this one.
